BlockWorld v1.3 Now on Windows 8!

BlockWorld, the ultimate creative constructive blog-game on the Xbox 360 has been released on Windows 8! This includes Windows RT based tablets such as the Microsoft Surface, and any other ARM based device!

For the first few weeks, it is available at the special introductory price of $2.49 USD to celebrate the launch onto a new platform!

BlockWorld due to its initial Xbox release, contains full support for the Xbox 360 Gamepad. Many of you may be surprised to learn that even on the RT devices, and Xbox 360 Wireless adapter works great, and lets you get that Xbox experience from any Windows 8 device. But it also fully supports touch, and may be poked and dragged about without the need to lug about extra USB devices.

Or you could just the mighty mouse and keyboard combination if you are so inclined.

The full selection of 27 dyes are available, along with new permutations of stairs, fences, and the full physics engine that powers the Hazzah Engine. BlockWorld maintains full feature parity with its console brother, with one exception.

Multiplayer is coming soon.

Some of you may recall the Xbox 360 version being in the same state at its launch in August of 2012. Rest assured, we are hard at work on a new networking system that will allow Tablet, Desktop and Laptop gamers on a wide variety of hardware to all play as equals in vast creative worlds. The release of Multiplayer is estimated to be in late March of 2013. One of our issues, is the need for a complex Avatar-player system to replace the default Xbox Avatar system we currently use. For that, we need a full time artist. More on that in just a moment!

In the meantime, you may bask in the 5 updates worth of improvements and fixes the Xbox project has contributed to both BlockWorld and the Hazzah Engine, and roam the infinite floating islands, flatlands or middle earth generators. Be sure to post to our forums, and let us know what you build. We like to talk to our community, and find out what they want, and how they want it….

The v1.5 update!

This update for BlockWorld applies to both the Xbox and Windows 8 customers, so listen up!

Here is a short list of some of the new features being delivered to you in v1.5, which will be completed and available in early February:

  • Slab permutations: Over a dozen different varieties of slabs to place!
  • Half Slabs: Fancy a thinner material?
  • Half Slab permutations: Available in over a dozen styles to suit your needs.
  • Vertical Slabs: One quarter of a block thick, but just as tall. Great for thin walls!
  • Vertical Slab permutations: Over a dozen varieties to choose from!
  • Upside down stairs: You asked for it, you got it! Stairs can now be upside down!
  • Stair corner pieces: Satisfy your OCD with a perfect piece to round off your creations
  • Inverse stair corner pieces: You’ll understand what this is, if you have ever needed it.
  • Upside down stair corners
  • Upside down inverse stair corners: We’ve been thorough with our stairs!
  • Corner vertical slabs: Break out of the 1x1x1 restrictions other block games impose with these!
  • Paintball gun: We joined your worlds on Xbox, and asked you. This was the second most requested feature! The first being CraftWorld to ship.
  • New Dye System: Dyes now take multiple applications to reach full intensity. However if you swap dyes, you can blend and mix for new colors beyond the initial set of 27!
  • The Raft: Throw one into a lake, and whip about. It’s not realistic, but IS fun!
  • Bugs, crash fixes, performance improvements etc… that will be listed in it’s own post after release.
New block types! Vines, grate, slabs, thin slabs and new ladders! BlockWorld v1.5

New block types! Vines, grate, slabs, thin slabs and new ladders! BlockWorld v1.5

The v1.5 update marks the end of the 80 ms point special for the Xbox version of the game, and also the end of the Windows 8 introductory special. So get em’ while they are cheap!

CraftWorld’s Footnote:

Survival mode, is something we hear our customers crying out for. Pigs, Zombies, hunger, drop blocks and more await in CraftWorld, but it’s not finished yet. We’re deep in networking code that is so insanely complex, that we have entire test-games at 2.0 Studios to verify it is working correctly and without exploits/bugs.

BlockWorld is simpler, and something we can release NOW. RIGHT MEOW. BlockWorld is also funding Craftworld. If you are holding back because:

“Nah man, that ain’t me”

Please don’t.
If you ever want to see CraftWorld on Xbox, Desktop, Windows 8, Android or iOS, show your support and pick up a copy of BlockWorld. It’s not the blind faith of a Kick-starter, it’s even better. You get something for your money immediately, and can see the potential of the Hazzah Engine for yourself. One in every two people that downloads our demo for BlockWorld, BUYS IT. That is a hard fact my friend.

A castle at night and day. Is this a Survival castle from CraftWorld, or a Creative castle from BlockWorld?

Fun Fact: Did you know that we almost have a full time artist? He’s been slaving away for weeks, spending almost every waking hour on content for a new project? This new project is a big announcement we will be making very soon.

Awesome :) I’m buying the Windows 8 one fairly shortly, couple days max, waiting for my PayPal disputes to be resolved from some scammer.

  • Tizi99 says:

Also in the 2.14 version of craftworld for wp7 will be introduced the night? It’s only a supposition

  • RAY says:

now that blockworld got its update can we now when will the next craftworld update will come and what does it contain? (WP7)

    • Jarryd says:

New blocks, better creative mode, new crafting templates, new player hand, spot shadows, better stability, creatures with pathfinding and loads more.

  • Tizi99 says:

Wow it’s a great update!! I really love this game

  • RAY says:

Awesome man just what I wanted :) I LOVE CRAFTWORLD! How abt raft??? THANK YOU really

  • Luke says:

I saw a report on Gameinformer that Microsoft’s XNA development platform is being discontinued Will this affect the development of Craftworld on the 360, since it’s an indie game?

    • Jarryd says:

Nah, as far as we’re concerned, XNA has been dead for about 2 years. It’s official support, and the MVP program running out in 2014. Windows 8 uses either DirectX or HTML+Javascript for it’s apps. Dan and I used to be c++ programmers, so we’ll just ascend to that when the Xbox 360 is no longer profitable.

I peg that date at about 5-7 years from now. Xboxes are cheap, common and highly updatable.

  • Cartzy says:

When will I get tje next update??? Cant wait for it :D

  • Haha says:

Hey Guys may I know when will I get the next update? You said in one of the comments that it will be in early Feb. Now is Feb so when will the update come Thank You very much. Also I told my friends who has wp7 to try cell, craftworld and much more games done by you :D . And they love the games! Once again thanks from Singapore

    • Jarryd says:

We’re hoping to stay on track for that release. We’re bug testing a batch of about 5 updates right now, and when we’re all content, we’ll launch them.

We’ll most likely update the BETA version first, just in case some bugs slipped through. After all, that’s what the BETA version is for.

You tried Cell? Awesome sauce. I hope you like it.

  • Haha says:

Of course I love cell. Its awesome man. That’s why I told my friends to try cell. Sorry that I can’t be much of help by speeding up your processes by telling my friends to buy craft world. Luckily they bought it for goodness sake. Cheers

  • teh_mad_guy says:

Amazing to it’s extent of HD and block variations, in all it just needs a few more game modes, very little more blocks/items and bug fixes to make it as special as you can make it, or even better ;-)

    • Jarryd says:

Pfft, we’re just getting started when it comes to block variations.

The game supports base types, as well as two kinds of permutations that stack. Material types, and dye colors. This makes calculating how many blocks we actually have a real pain. Do we go with core types, like cube, stair or slabs? Or do we multiply those with material types like apple wood, stone, ice etc…? Or do we multiply that by the 27 base colors, that each have 4 shades, and can be merged? Or do we add on the theoretical permutations that the game supports, but can only be accessed by console?

Anyway, glad you’re happy. More is coming soon. :)

  • zedk says:

one thing i would loveeeeeeeeeee to have, being able to add water and lava, and make waterfalls/lavafalls :D

    • Jarryd says:

CraftWorld: Craft a bucket in survival mode!
CraftWorld: Get a bucket from the creative inventory in creative mode!
BlockWorld: Bucket is in the inventory!

  • Tizi99 says:

Yes but it isn’t the fire!

  • jessy says:

    xxx

  • Inan says:

will there be servival modes like minecraft. get your own bloks. it will be amazing if there was

    • Jarryd says:

BlockWorld will not have survival. That’s why it’s so cheap.

BlockWorld is a test/Fundraiser for another game, CraftWorld which is still in development. You can get it now, if you have a Windows Phone.

  • Batman says:

Is blockworld or craftworld going to be on iOS.

  • Thomas says:

Thumbs up guys, you just made the day of my 7 year old, who came running into the room today “Dad, I found MineCraft for our Surface!” ;-) She will love CraftWorld when the time comes, awesome, simply awesome.

  • Janine says:

I’m having a problem, but I’ve neglected to provide sufficient information to assist in a fix. Also, I’m a bit rude.

  • Leslie says:

    Jarryd,

I had a couple of questions + suggestions.

Will blockworld owners get discount for Craft World?
Will there be a VOIP in the multiplayer, both block and craft world. Or atleast an option to communicate during online gaming.
Is there an ETA for craftworld on Windows RT and how much would the cost be of Craftworld.
Will there be an option where you can friends in CW and send them messages without being in the same game?

I’m looking forward to those answers,

    leslie

  • TG says:

When will craftworld wp7 get its next update? Its been around 4 months since we got the last update. Ppl in marketplace ( if U have noticed) they are asking for next update

  • Matt Tinsley says:

I agree.. Its also late for update now. They said march 16th roughly for blockworld, followed several days later by the craftworld update. I’ve built my version of new York city, and I need to update it before it becomes boring.. I wanna add new things!!! :D

  • joe says:

im on win 8 wat is the difference between trial and full blockworld versions and when will the next update be

    • Jarryd says:

The trial version has a lot of stuff locked out. There’s a bug preventing the lock from engaging. It’s a failsafe, if the engine detects a problem with certifying payment, it turns off the locks just in case a real customer is trying to play. It’ll get patched soon.

  • jonny says:

When does the update come available i love craft world

  • blake says:

hey so when will you guys make craftworld on windows rt
