A look at the CraftWorld engine and alpha news!

As the days and weeks roll by, we are getting closer to that glorius launch date of chapter 1. But first we need some testers to ensure the core engine of CraftWorld works and is also reliable and fun.

So we are putting together a pre-alpha testing build for an open internal testing session. Register your interest over in the forums HERE and we will get back to you when the build is ready. We want people to break our game. Find crashes, stress the regions and generally try to screw it up. After 2 weeks of this we can decide if we are alpha worthy and can move to testing more advanced game mechanics in later weeks.

Yes I know we mentioned that it may be out in April. That was optimistic, and we have to get this right. If you want it sooner, sign up and break our game then tell us about how you did it.

But for now, I have a few screenshots of the new infinite terrain system.

A lot of work has gone into this, but it is hard to see. Look past the lack of trees and the ugly patchwork of textures. There you see dozens of procedurally generated regions, each one being saved and loaded succesfuly. You can walk for miles and not lose a single placed block, its awesome!

We have also being playing around with different level generators and generation systems with some interesting results.

That’s not going to be in the game, but its fun to look at. We will have some more footage up soon, but first this block engine needs to be perfect!

Thanks for reading.
