Cloud storage and v2.6

We are currently working on adding cloud storage of your world saves to CraftWorld. This is a true, hassle free backup method that will be made available not just to WP7 users, but also to PC users of CraftWorld. This does not require dropbox, skydrive or any third party method, so it “just works” like magic.

When you download either version of CraftWorld, you receive a total of 5 slots of online storage for your worlds. This is a shared account that allows you to download the very same worlds on PC, and then upload again on PC. The benefits of this simple system are as follows:

1)      Migration of worlds from WP7 to PC

2)      Migration of worlds between FREE PAID and BETA versions of CraftWorld

3)      One shared world you can play on your laptop, desktop, Slate WP7 etc…

We are working hard to squeeze this feature in for v2.6, so keep this blog in your favourites and subscribe to our twitter to keep up with the latest news.

Version 2.6 for FREE, PAID and BETA versions are a performance, stability and save system update. Users have reported lost worlds, missing regions and a few other rare bugs and we have responded, and developed this new update in response. The biggest improvements are as follows:

  • Faster save and load times
  • Faster graphics updates, eg. No more “Ghost” blocks
  • More resilient saves, handling rare corrupted data more effectively by recovering as much data as possible.
  • No more item duplication cheats.
  • No more tree fragments cutting through walls.
  • PC, Xbox and WP7 cross platform save compatibility
  • The smelter no longer destroys objects
  • Decreased save size, and decreased memory consumption
  • Vibration option now works
  • Sign posts (More on those later)

If after this update you still have a world or two that does not load, please contact us via email so as we may retrieve your save data via the cloud storage system. From here we can conduct more accurate tests, and go on to fix any and all issues for everyone in the following patch.

Thanks for reading!

It appears that I have came by a bug. I was mining a little below the mountain top, having left all my stuff in chests there at the top. I also had my crafting table, resurrection stone and smelter there. After a little while I went to get a new pick from my chest, and noticed that all my chests, crafting table, smelter and resurrection stone had duplicated. Well, at first I thought “cool, I needed more storage space anyways”. But when I placed them on the ground, they had exactly same stuff inside them as the original chests. I also couldnt stack these new resources with the old ones. Now, after a while, the new chests have also duplicated, and Im not able to open the original or the newer chests. I can only open the newest chests. I have absolutely no idea how this bug has happened, but now I am left with 4 resurrection stones, smelters and crafting tables + a ton of chests which of most are unusable.

Oh by the way, what happens if you have more than one resurrection stone on ground at the same time? I haven’t tried yet because I’m afraid it would destroy my whole save.

      • Jarryd says:

You can’t. The game detects the first stone, and blocks you from making another.

If you do succeed somehow, the first one will turn invisible and only the second one will move your spawn point.

      1) Did you leave the area, and walk back?

      2) How were there duplicates:
      a) The ‘popped’ into dropblocks, and there were extras
      b) They were inside a chest, and extras appeared
      c) An extra block appeared next to, above or adjacent to the pre-existing blocks?

      3) Can you craft a camera, take a screenshot, email it and give me a nice wordy description?

This sounds like either an old bug we’ve fixed in 2.6 or something else entirely.

Note: There is an exploit currently you can take adavantage of. If you destoy a chest with a bomb, and pick it up, it still has it’s contents. So it’s like a bag of holding you can’t open until you place it. That’s fixed in 2.6 btw.

        1) I didnt completely leave the area, I just were a bit below the top. I was trying to mine the mountain so that it would look like it was floating :D

        2) The chests appeared like when you have mined a block. When I put them on ground they have same things inside them as the original chests. When I mine the original chests, they disappear completely with no resources or chest on ground. Nothing.

        3) I’ll try. I dont have access to a computer right now, but I’ll see what I can do.

Great thing if this is fixed. I have lost some of my resources because I didn’t care to pick up some of those chests at first.

On a other topic, you could increase the amount of zombies. Right now it seems that they won’t really spawn on the region that you have mined on. I have had to go really far to find zombies.

The same thing happened with the chests, smelter and workbench duplicating next to the original, as a mined block would. I had dug all the way to bedrock In a winding tunnel that didn’t go very far from the initial hole. I started to build an underground dungeon, and i built a ladder all the way back to the surface. When i went to my shelter where chests smelter and workbench were, they duplicated. I picked turn up and placed them at the bottom in my face, and they contained the same stacks. It was awesome cause i ahad placed everything i dug up valuable on my tunneling adventure. So i went back up and collected from the original chests. Since, I’ve spent q lot of time on expanding my cave and the next time i surfaced i had no access to the chests. Everything else worked and they haven’t duped since.

Also l, i have noticed every time i flip my phone and the screen images switches, i fall through the earth and die, without fail. Im on a HTC wp7

Did you guys just call it cloud store so when you do the Xbox 360 release its comparable all through the internet?

    • Jarryd says:

The cloud storage system is independent of any specific version of CraftWorld. So long as a platform can score an internet connection, it can download and upload to the 2.0 Cloud. This means the PC and various WP7 versions all share the same cloud. The Xbox, because we are going to be an XBLIG title will not have this. It is locked down, and we cannot reach the 2.0 Cloud. Unless we get a deal with microsoft and become an Arcade title. That would also mean achievements and leaderboards.

So if we did do an iPhone, Android, Linux and Mac versions of CraftWorld, the 2.0 Cloud would link them all together.

  • Minecrafter says:

Why im unable to create an account for cloud storage?
It say its an unknown error and ask me to try again later, but the screen stuck at creating account and unable to return to main menu. I need to restart the game to play.
Even after reinstallation, it still gives the same error.
