Progress Update

CraftWorld v2.11

We have been receiving reports of crash bugs, and “Mild” save file corruption from users of the v2.10 update of CraftWorld. This is a result of increased complexity to the underlying save system for mid-complexity block types. This has been repaired in v2.11. We are still testing files from the cloud to ensure full compatibility and repair to existing v2.9 to v2.10 converts.

This includes missing water, dye colours and absent rotations in addition to the missing doors and trap doors.

We have also improved the creative mode, granting access to a total of five types of fences, five types of stairs, five types of gates and also new dyes and block types that are unique to creative mode. Survival mode has also received crafting templates for the new fences, gates and stairs. The v1.12 update will include a new range of books to assist in creating these items, and many more without the need to flip through the massive Craftapedia.

We will be submitting within the next 72 hours. Stay tuned.

BlockWorld v1.2

This update is a very very important update to all current BlockWorld players. This addresses the greifing issues that are putting a dent in the fun that BlockWorld brings. There is a leak in the current privacy settings that allows players to join private worlds. The boot option in v1.2 is also re-worked to be much easier to use, and faster to boot errant players.

In addition to this, a new window of content will be added to creative mode, with new stairs, fences and dyes to add to your worlds. Water and buckets are also now accessible.

The v1.3 update will include new dyes, and also more advanced greifing measures such as blacklisting from your Xbox and edit permissions for visitors to your world. We are also adding a range of new weaponry to the combat game type.

Users have also reported issues of crashes, and been gracious enough to send photographs from their smartphones of the reports. Unlike the WP7 branch of this project, there is no reporting system avail bile to us developers on the Xbox 360. We rely on accurate bug reports, that include images. The other way to look at this, is that it won’t get fixed unless you let us know!

This update will also be submitted within the next 72 hours, and hopefully approved within a week.

Should i delete the crashed world or is it repairable ?

    • Jarryd says:

It will be repaired in v2.11, so don’t delete it. I’ve found all the crash bugs, but things such as loaves of bread, chicken drumsticks and picks appearing where plants should be, cannot be fixed.

Torch rotations, open doors, stairs and other complex items will be loaded up incorrectly, but will be loaded.

You’ll have to knock these down, and put them back to repair the file. There was no way for me to automate this.

If a world was never loaded by v2.10, then you should see much fewer of these issues.

    I can understand you.
So its ok if it is not possible. Just do the thing that is important for you. :)

Guys, I read about the bug crashes, but I think my problem is both the same and different. My game won’t even load, I’ve got the beta version, the free version AND the try version of the paid one.. The beta and free won’t even reach the homepage.. And I’ve got some really good files on there.. Please tell me its fixable, if it helps, I am on the Nokia lumia 710 email Me if U know anything other than to reinstall the game, coz I don’t want to do that. Thanks.. Matt

    • Jarryd says:

      Hey Matt,

Just wait for the update. It fixes a lot of save file corruptions issues that are causing these crashes. Your torches and doors might be rotated wrong when you load up v2.11, but they will load. Let me know how it goes after you update.

Thanks ever so much man.. I thought I preferred survivalcraft and I do.. But they never actually answer me with helpful questions.. Since they can’t afford to make an ads version of the game. Also.. A special request can U update the map, shouldn’t be too much but on my crashed files. I had an idea to put a pure ruby roof on my small hut to make it noticeable on the map and it just appears as stone (same with trees they just come up as grey) this sounds like a small but effective update request, just to have the blocks appear as their colours do, on the map, so red ruby blocks appear as red on the map u know what I mean? Thanks again and I only play free version because I don’t have access to buy games on marketplace.

          Hey Matt,

We try to be pretty active on the blog, twitter and forums. Chloe handles the email, and we discuss all of the feedback we get. We want to add what people want, and make this game pretty community heavy.

The map is pretty incomplete. We’ll be doing a huge update to it soon. Icons, markers and new way of rendering. Dyes are a good point, I’ll pop it on the list.

I’m guessing that you’re either young, or don’t trust mobile devices with a credit card? Mobile handsets are a great gaming platform, since everyone has one anyway, and in the Windows Mobile 8 generation of devices, they really give dedicated machines like the DS and the Vita some serious competition.

There is some things i want to say. Firstly the game hangs a few seconds suddenly , then secondly, when i swim, and when i just take a step on the shore from the water, my character will jump so high, that i loose half of my life in survival mode.

and just 1 more thing I can’t wait for multiplayer and the day and night for craftworld :D

    • Jarryd says:

We actually attended a Microsoft/Nokia educational event last weekend in regards to the Windows Mobile platform, specifically Windows Mobile 8.

There is some really awesome stuff coming in windows mobile 8 we will be taking advantage of. People’s phones usually come on contracts, that are usually 12-24 months long. That means that we’ll be seeing a real drop in WP7 handsets in the future. Gen I devices barely occupy 20% of all handsets these days despite only being 2 years old at maximum.

I’m rambling, but my point is that Windows Mobile is pretty fucking awesome.

  • matt tinsley says:

I don’t know if I will be getting a windows 8 phone.. Please don’t make the game solely for windows 8 phones for a while, I am not spending money on another new phone for a while.. Since this cost £140. Please could U at least add dyes to the map, in the next update (2.11) its a small thing (well, sounds like a small thing) to add.. And would make a big difference :-)

Please don’t make craftworld time out on the free versions, I don’t buy games on marketplace.. I wish U could use mobile credit.. Because I don’t think its worth the risk to activate ab account to buy games on mobile marketplace because there are not enough games I would like to pay for.. And it seems daft that you can’t use your mobile credit to buy.. I can’t play survivalcraft coz of its timed trial, but for that reason I give this game the preference choice to play because EVERYONE is taken into consideration by having a free version and a paid.. Perhaps make the paid have better features.. Such as some special tools/items and the ability to save several files like U can now, and change the free versions to allow just one save

    • Jarryd says:

We’ve thought long and hard on how we are handling the FREE and PAID versions, and also the effect of Windows Mobile 8 on the current Windows Store. It would take me a rather large and in depth blog post to expand upon it, so I’ll just leave this short sentence here.

“If we convert the free version into something little better than an extended trial, then we WILL lose many of our customers. We have worked hard on building a large customer base over the past 12 months, and value that greatly.”

We will not abandon development on CraftWorld for Windows Phone 7 at all, I don’t even know why I have to affirm that. Windows Phone 8 is new, and very few people will have it at first, in comparison to WP7. But we also wish to take advantage of features such as Bluetooth, NFC and higher resolutions that simple do not exist on current generation hardware. Updates will be received by both WP7 and WP8 handsets, but WP8 handsets will have some extra stuff, due to the much better hardware.

We ran CraftWorld on a HTC 8x AND a Nokia Lumia 920. It ran buttery smooth, like the PC version at the higher settings that low end PC’s get choppy at!

  • matt tinsley says:

Well, this is why I suggested having features on the paid that greatly improve gameplay, such as multiple saves and stuff, at least make a clear post when you are REMOVING the unlimited free trial please.. As I will not update to a version that I can’t play for more than a set amount of time.. This is the only game I play and it is a lot to ask as an individual person.. I wish I could pay with mobile credit coz then I would never have been posting this comment. Thanks very much.. And I hope something can be worked out so that I don’t get timed out of the game.

Place a new block and that will disappear

    • Jarryd says:

I am so confused right now.

You know about the FREE and the PAID versions, and you said you CANNOT buy the PAID version.
But you are complaining about the trial timer in the PAID version.
AND you are saying I am being unclear in the blog.

I don’t know what you want or what you are trying to say. There is no problem here!

      • matt tinsley says:

I thought you were talking about putting a timer on ALL the versions sorry mate. i just don’t want the only game I actually like playing to become a timed trial coz then ill be gutted.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I’m a big fan :-)

        • Jarryd says:

Haha, no way man, no way. We don’t want to screw with our fan base at all. Although, we do need to do something in the future to shake some more coin out of the WP7 branch of CraftWorld, so something will be changing in the future. But it won’t wreck your experience, or “jib” you out of your hard earned cash.

It’s something we’re putting LOADS of thought into, rest assured. We want CraftWorld to be loved!

  • matt tinsley says:

Dude the update didn’t fix my beta file, still won’t even get past the loading screen, and I just used like.. The last of my data to download that update and it made no difference. Is there nothing that can be done for my file? Thanks.

    • Jarryd says:

TO THE CLOUD WITH THIS SAVE!

What’s your username? And what slot is this?

      • matt tinsley says:

I didn’t save this save.. To the cloud.. I can’t do anything.. Dude.. I can’t even send U an error report… The first screen U see where it says loading please wait.. I can’t even get past that and the phone vibrates and then it literally comes up with game crash send error report for 0.5 seconds and then closes so i can’t do anything. This is the craftworld beta that i updated and the free hasn’t been updated but it still has the same problem as the beta… Would it have anything to do with that old duplication cheat?

        • Jarryd says:

          Nah.

It seems like an issue with the cloud auto-login. This one is going to be impossible to reproduce, but we’ll see what we can do.

v2.11 was cancelled from release on the FREE and PAID versions. I made a post about it btw. v2.12 is inbound though!

  • matt tinsley says:

I’ll keep hold of the files… I only have one working version.. The trial of the paid…

    • Jarryd says:

Well, for now give the free version a go. The advertisement can be annoying, so what you can do is upload you saves to the cloud, switch back to PAID and download them again. Then play without ads!

  • my world doesn’t open in craftworld free

  • andrew says:

Will there be online and servers for both paid and free and also what’s is the difference between the 2 and how far are you guys into V 2.13 and when can we expect an release

    • Jarryd says:

The nearest WP release would be in early February. We’re focusing our efforts on Xbox and Windows 8 right now.

Multiplayer for Windows phone would be Windows Phone 8 only, and be local network only, and available to both free and paid. But this is a feature we are not even close to working on right now.
