CraftWorld v2.11 Submitted! (+ sneak peak)

The next version of CraftWorld has been submitted for certification by Microsoft! This release corrects the crash bugs that have appeared in worlds that were present in and before v2.9 with the conversion to v2.10. CraftWorld version 2.11 also inherits many of the creative mode improvements that were originally built for BlockWorld version 1.2.

Permutations:

 This version marks the beginning of the permutation system being used in the Hazzah Engine, which first was patched in through version 2.10. Games such as Halo  or Call of Duty expand the total content of game by offering alternate versions of good content. In Halo, there are red, blue, gold, flying, heretic etc… Elites. In Call of Duty, dozens of guns can be modified with different parts to lend new properties, and freshness to the base set of weapons. This is a feature we wish to expand to every feature of CraftWorld, which many of you many have already noticed in the Zombie enemy type. Torsoboy the Unfortunate, Foulooze and others are existing examples of this.

In version 2.12, you will begin to see new permutations of the base creature set, including genders. The Rooster, Ram and Boar are new masculine variations of the existing creatures, and are more likely to defend themselves. We have received a great deal of requests for animal husbandry, and now CraftWorld has fences, and gates, we are moving towards this large feature.

*Save file corruption info:

CraftWorld is a game in development. During its development, we work hard on maintaining save file compatibility. During the process of adding the permutation system, which is a substantial engine, and save format upgrade, older CraftWorld saves experienced some mild save file corruption. In v2.11 we have downloaded worlds reporting these issues, and followed up on several crashes caused. If you have a world that is affected, then please run your world through version 2.11 as soon as it is available to correct these issues.
Items such as ladders and torches may experience data loss as a result of these reparative measures. This includes the loss of dye colours, missing content on paintings and most commonly, rotation data being absent. Simple knock down these items, and replant them in your world to correct any visual oddities.

A Sneak peak:

We’re working on Custom Avatars for CraftWorld Xbox, PC and Windows Phone. This work is highly incomplete, and subject to change, as what is presented here is an early draft. There is no definite release date for this feature, but you can look forward to having customisable characters soon.

    By the way, there is no timer anymore at craftworld trial version. Fix it please

      Slabs are coming up next. We’re trying to pick up the pace of our updates, smaller updates more frequently.

      There will be five permutations of slabs to begin with, (Adamantium, stone, timber, tree-wood and steel) with more being sprinkled into the game as we go. They are a great way to get you guys more content if we have zero time to do an update. (once the system is in of course!)

      I’ll check out the timer thing. Thanks Serkan. Like usual, the engine of CraftWorld has been getting hugely changed. CraftWorld v0.5, v2.0 and v2.11 are all pretty much different games as far as code goes.

      We’re working on getting that running on PC. It’s not possible to get in on Xbox via XBLIG though. Maybe we can become a XBLA title one day? That would be sweet.

      CraftWorld is a multiplatform game. That image is from PC.

      Day night cycles are the single most requested feature from the WP7 fans. But there is a problem with this. The WP7 handsets do not support custom shaders. Shaders are tiny programs that the graphics card can run to do special things. Like sepia colors, shimmering water, motion blur etc… We use a shader on the PC and Xbox versions to get day and night cycles. But on the WP7 we can’t do this. We have to use a different trick.

      We don’t like doing things twice, and the fact we have to re-do what is already done, makes implementing Day and Night for WP7 a real pain. We’ll make a big fuss when it does go in though.

    I have a complaint.. I uninstalled my old craftworld beta and reinstalled it.. It worked, then it crashed, at first I though it was when I loaded a file.. But then I noticed it did it on brand new files I hadn’t exited yet.. I’ve sent the error reports.. And it mentioned about a texture or something.. Again if it helps i am using Nokia lumia 710. Get back to me ASAP please.. And anyone else who experiences this problem as well, please comment on this.. So i know it isn’t just me with this problem. =) thanks

      Okey Doke,

      Which version are you using? 2.10 PAID, 2.10 FREE or 2.11 BETA?

      The current set of builds are feature packed, but there are a lot of bugs in the game right now. v2.12 fixes SOOOO much, and will straighten out all of your problems.

      We sincerely apologize for these issues. This is the downside to releasing a “game in development” with lots of updates.

    I have emailed about this too, but just to be sure I am heard :) I will post here too.. When is the next update, there is no post about 2.12 release and yet we have it, so thought best to post here, when is the update to 2.13 (or whatever is after 2.12) is due for release? Or should I be asking this, is there going to be another update or have other games taken over? Note: im a WP7 Lumia 710 user.. Thanks for reading and if you could email back to me about this I would much appreciate it

      We’ll be releasing CraftWorld v2.14 when BlockWorld v1.6 reaches Xbox and Windows 8 PC. While both games share the Hazzah Engine, and fixes, it is BlockWorld that is generating us the bulk of the funding we require to continue development on all platforms and titles.

    When is the next update?! I have been waiting and waiting. Now I’m pissed that the world I have been playing for months deleted everything I did, my house is gone, everything in it, all the caves I went through and had torches in, everything’s gone!!! :’(

      Which version I assume WP7. What do you mean by deleted everything? Was the world missing, or just data missing? Did you use the cloud to make backups? Did you call any files back from the cloud?
